It's been a long time since we've seen a decent rom-com, and with the release of Kabhi Kabhi this month, we hope that our prayers have finally been answered. The film is set in Karachi and explores the relationship between two friends as they spend one night together with their own romantic partners. The film's catchy title (which translates to "sometimes sometimes") beautifully captures this sentiment. Bilal (Fawad Khan) and Moomal (Hareem Farooq) are best friends who were once in love with each other. Their relationship ended when Bilal started dating Iram (Sanam Saeed), while Moomal married Adeel (Behroze Sabzwari). Both couples still remain best friends, and when Moomal's marriage starts having problems, she decides to take a break from her husband to spend time with Bilal. The two are ecstatic at the thought of seeing each other again after so long, but Adeel learns of his wife's plan, and decides to follow her to Karachi. The lives of all four friends intertwine in a very interesting way, and that's where Kabhi Kabhi really starts to shine. The film shows that sometimes relationships end without reasons, but the people stay connected because of the love they have for each other. It's a great take on the idea of friendship and how it can help you through some tough times in your life. The performances from the entire cast were superb, but Fawad Khan and Hareem Farooq definitely stood out for us. Hareem was especially impressive since she doesn't get to show her comedic chops as often as she should. Her scenes with Fawad in particular manage to take a serious topic and keep you laughing all the way through. The soundtrack was another strong point of the film. The songs were all well-written and catchy, even when they were being sung in Urdu. The movie managed to strike a great balance between lighthearted moments and deeper subject matter, and we can't wait to see what else director Nadeem Baig has in store for the future. 7/10 "L'nternet est un monde dangereux.
